Nakupenda means “I love you” in Swahili. The official Nakupenda sandbank is packed with tourists every day, so we go against the flow — to another sandbank, further out and far less visited. A strip of white sand surrounded by crystal-clear water, and a whole morning to enjoy it.

Schedule & meeting point

• Departure from the Port of Stone Town between 8:30 and 9:30 AM
• Return to the Port of Stone Town around 3:00 PM
• Access is by motorboat, not by sailboat — the 10-seat boat serves only as a shuttle, since the excursion takes place entirely on the sandbank
• Private only, in a small group, maximum 10 people
• Operated by Boss Lady's Dhow

Booking and payment

• Rates valid from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027
• Book at least 1 month in advance, or 2 months ahead in high season — availability is limited
• Excursions may be cancelled in bad weather; where possible an alternative date is offered before your departure
• Payment on site in euros, US dollars (bills from 2007 or newer) or Tanzanian shillings
